Day 3: Leon


Day at leisure to discover Leon and its region.
We suggest you start your day with the discovery of hervideros San jacinto at the foot of Volcan Telika, then continue your road to Volcano Cerro Negro and its lunar landscapes. For the more energetic, you can go down the flanks of the volcano sledding or sandboarding.
Finally, if you prefer a bit of freshness, the Pacific beaches, the Reserve Juan Venado Island and its mangroves are waiting an hour away.

Day 4: Leon - Granada

Free morning to enjoy the city of León. Then take the road to the city of Granada.We suggest you stop in Masaya National Park to observe the immense crater of the active volcano "Boca del Infierno".Then stroll around the market town of Masaya, one of the largest in the country and famous for its handicrafts.You can then visit the town of Catarina, whose main activity is the development of bamboo furniture. You can also then enjoy the beautiful view of the city of Granada, the Great Lake and its islands, the Laguna de Apoyo and the Mombacho volcano.

Day 5: Granada - Ometepe Island

Day at leisure to explore the city of Granada, a jewel of the Spanish colonial empire in Central America. The emblem of the city is the cathedral with saffron yellow facades. The invasion of the country by mercenary William Walker in XIX century brought widespread destruction in the city, including the cathedral, which was rebuilt. Fortunately, many colonial houses remain, you can recognize them thanks to their warm colors and interior courtyards, which are essential for temperature control.

Day 6: Ometepe Island

Free day to enjoy the many activities available on the island of Ometepe. We recommend a stroll in the footsteps of petroglyphs, mysterious footprints in stone made by the Chorotega Natives in many places of the island, they are more than 1500 years old. You can also go kayaking for half a day in the mangroves from the Istian isthmus.To swim the ideal is to go on foot, bicycle or taxi to the Ojo de agua, a natural swimming pool with transparent and thermal waters. Finally, for hiking enthusiasts, we recommend to go to the San Ramon waterfall starting on right from your hotel.

Day 7: Ometepe Island - Peñas blancas - Rincon de la Vieja volcano


Early in the morning, you will be back on the road to Costa Rica.
Drive to Moyogalpa to embark on the ferry to Rivas. Then drive to Peñas Blancas and the Costa Rican border.

Note: 1 hour boat ride
Note 2: Ferry to pay directly (2 USD pp + 25 USD per vehicle)
Note 3: Don't forget Panama's exit fees

Once in Costa Rica, head south to Rincon de la Vieja, where you will spend the night.
Rincon de la Vieja and its volcano are one of the most active geothermical areas of Costa Rica. Observe gas and smokes coming out of the volcano and enjoy the hotsprings!

Note: About 2 hour drive. Pick-up time and place to be defined later on.


Staying at Hacienda Guachipelin, enjoy free access to the hot springs of the Rio Negro, located 15 minutes from the hotel, don't miss out on it!

Day 8: Rincon de la Vieja volcano - Arenal Volcano


Free time to explore the Rincon de la Vieja area as you feel.

This massive volcano, with its nine craters is absolutely stunning. Capucins, shouting monkeys, spider monkeys, ant-eaters, sloths and more than 300 bird species can be encountered there.


The park was founded in 1973 and shelters a great concentration of orchideas, including the local flower, the "Guaria morada" (Guaranthia Skinneri).

Note: The Rincon de la Vieja National Park is closed on Mondays.

Departure for La Fortuna and the majestic Arenal Volcano (1635 meters). Along the way, it is possible to stop a Las Pumas de Cañas Rescue Center, whose mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and ensure good conditions for endangered wildlife in Costa Rica, and encourage society's respect and appreciation for wildlife through these actions. Then you will be reaching the Laguna Arenal, perfect for practice Windsurf. Arrival at the hotel near the Arenal

Day 9: Arenal Volcano

We recommend to spend your morning visiting the Arenal National Park with a hike near the Arenal volcano on the paths covered with ashes. In the afternoon you can, access to a 3 kilometers path through the primary forest by crossing suspended bridges above the canopy. For the trek lovers a stunning walk leads to Catarata de la Fortuna, a 70 meters high waterfall which drops in a vertical canyon in a very exotic ambiance.


At the end of day you may allow you a relaxing time in the thermal waters of Ecotermales, or a Tabacon's therapeutical baths.

Day 10: Arenal Volcano - Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui


Drive to Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui, authentic rural area surrounded by the rainforest, shelter of tapirs, sloths, coatis and various types of monkeys.

Day 11: Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui - Guapiles - Tortuguero National Park

Early in the morning go to the must-see area of Tortuguero on the caribbean coast, You will cross the opulent Braulio Carrillo Park which is covered by a thick tropical wet forest waterpoured by rainstorms. On the way you will drive along banana plantations. Costa Rica is one of the main bananas exporters in the world.
In Caño Blanco you will board in a motorised boat that will take you into the wild forests until you arrive to the lodge.
In the afternoon you have the option to visit the caribbean Tortuguero village and the small turtle museum.
Meals included (at the lodge).

Day 12: Tortuguero National Park

In the morning explore the Tortuguero channels by boat. This large national aquatic park consists in its totality in water channels and lagoons in the middle of an impressive jungle which makes it known as the " Costa Rica Amazonia". In a journey through this exclusive and outstanding channel network, rivers and swamps at the heart of the jungle, you will discover with you guide the crocodiles, caimans, toucans, turtles, shouting monkeys, parrots, lazys, iguanas, multicolored birds...
In the afternoon you will have the possibility to walk on the Cerro Tortuguero, by boat then by foot to enjoy an opulent nature. From the top of the hill you will admire a stunning view on the National Park.

Day 13: Tortuguero National Park - Guapiles - San José

Return by boat in the morning to the Caño Blanco quay.
In the morning, navigate to Caño Blanco.
Then resume the road to the capital all along banana plantations.
You will cross the lush Braulio Carrillo Park covered with a thick watered rainforest Torrential rain before reaching San Jose.
Arrival at the hotel in the afternoon.

Day 14: San José - Juan Santamaria Airport - Albrook Airport - Panama city - Miraflores water locks - Casco Antiguo



Transfer to the international airport 3 hours prior to the departure time of your return flight.

Private transfer from the Albrook Airport to your hotel.
Your driver will pick you up at your hotel for a city tour of Panama City.

Our first stop of the day will be in Panama La Vieja, first capital of the country before it was destroyed by the famous pirate Henry Morgan.

Then, we will head to the must-see Panama Canal and the Miraflores Locks. The visitor center offers a view on transiting vessels of all sorts (container ships, cruise ships, or tiny yachts). It explains the history of the Canal and how the locks work.

We will end our day with a tour in the Casco Antiguo. This bohemian center of Panama City will make you travel in time and immerge into the the historical past of the country. Take a walk in the narrow streets bordered with colorful buildings leading to the Plaza de Francia. Discover the Art-Deco architecture, the cathedral and visit the Panama Canal Museum.

Note 1: the Canal Museum and Panama La Vieja are closed on Mondays.
Note 2: The order of the visits depends on the Canal schedule.

Day 15: Panama city - Albrook Airport - Playon Chico


Your private driver will drive you from your hotel to Albrook Airport.

Early morning you will take a flight to Playon Chico.

Once you get off the plane, a boat transfer will take you up to your lodge, it will take about 15 minutes.
